In this episode, Jake is talking with Sara Speicher, one of the authors from the book BOLD!: Helping YOU Unleash the Hero Within.
When she was 20 years old, Sara received offers to play basketball in New York City. She was from a small European town where everyone knew everyone else and she was close to her family, so the thought of leaving was terrifying. But with encouragement from her parents, Sara took one of the offers and headed off to New York, where life became completely different and she had to learn English and learn to live on her own.
Now living in the United States, Sara went to school and completed her degree at the time that the market crashed. This put her at a disadvantage of competing with Americans for the limited jobs available. But Sara did find a job and she launched into the working world in a couple different jobs—until she was laid off right along the same time that she learned she was pregnant.
Sara now works as a marketing consultant and helps businesses grow and improve their inner workings and outer image. Working with businesses helps Sara also see what attitudes and behaviors can help people in their own personal lives as well. Listen in as Sara talks about the things she learned in business and how it can help you find your path in your personal and professional life.
