In this episode, Jake is talking with Gene McNaughton. Gene used to work with Tony Robbins before branching off into his own business of helping people be the best salespeople they can be.
Gene spent his childhood growing up in a small town in Iowa surrounded by farm country. He always dreamed of becoming a professional athlete one day, but as he grew up, he realized that the reason he wanted to be a sports star was because he liked to influence people. Gene then turned that desire to influence people into a sales career and now he uses his experience and knowledge to help others in their sales careers.
The advice Gene gives works not only for sales careers, but also in our own every day lives. We are asking questions of ourselves consciously and unconsciously each day. Gene tells us that when you ask better questions, you’ll get better answers. One bit of advice he gives is to have key questions written out to ask yourself each day. Ask yourself questions such as, “What do I need to do in order to….?” This shifts your perception of the world around you and helps you find the right answers.
We control how we think about anything, and the way to control that is by asking empowering questions. This is what Gene teaches his clients and what he wants to teach you in today’s episode.
