This week Jake is speaking with Coach Jim Palmer about how to succeed in many areas of your life.
Jim is a marketing and business building expert and founder and CEO of multiple businesses. But in this episode, Jim is discussing life, fears, and how to excel your own personal reset. In 2000, Jim was the sole breadwinner in his family. He went through a financial and personal crisis then when he lost his job and was diagnosed with cancer.
Before going through all of that, Jim used to focus a lot on getting and owning things. Facing his own mortality made him realize that the material things didn’t really mean anything. Working toward owning things is no longer important and isn’t what drives Jim in his career. Now he focuses on bigger things. Having something to work toward, whether it’s family or charity or something else, gives you a reason to get up in the morning and move forward. Jim and his wife support three local charities and he uses this to push him ahead in his work.
Jim now teaches others how to use their drive to move themselves forward in life. Most success gurus tell you it’s your drive, ambition, strength, skill, talent, etc. that drives you forward, but Jim believes it’s more than that. Your skill, talent, strength, work ethic, drive, and etc. all make up the machine of your business. But your mindset is the fuel that drives your machine. You could be great at what you do, but if you don’t have the mindset to push yourself forward and work toward that success, you’ll never get there.
Listen in as Jake and Jim talk about the secrets to finding success in your career, life, and everything else and why you might need a coach in your life.
