In this episode of the Operation Self Reset podcast, Jake is talking with motivational speaker Coach Alex.

Alex knew at age eleven that he wanted to be a motivational speaker, but he put that desire on the back burner and became a swim coach instead. One day, he realized it wasn’t really what he wanted to do. He loved being around people and coaching them, but he wanted to take the swim team part out of it. The idea of being a motivational speaker kept coming back to him and so he had to follow his passion.

The journey from a swim coach to a motivational speaker wasn’t easy. Of course, friends aren’t always as encouraging when you say you want to be a motivational speaker over more “normal” career paths, but Alex knew he had to follow his dream. Changing your path in life can help you learn who your real friends are and introduce you to new people who have a great impact on your life.

Everyone wants to make changes in their lives, whether it’s your job or losing weight or finding your perfect match. But so many of us try and fail over and over again. Why? Alex tells us that to really change, we have to change ourselves from the inside. It’s not enough to say that you want to make this change in your life—you need to know the real reason why you want to change. That will be the best motivation you can find to make a big impact in your life.
